Savory cake with chorizo and peppers

Savory cake with chorizo and peppers is THE most delicious savory cake I have ever had! When you hear about cake you might think of a sweet, creamy cake with beautiful icing. They are delicious indeed! Nothing wrong with those cakes! However, if you get tired of eating sweet cakes, I would suggest that you try a savory cake instead. This one doesn’t disappoint!

flour, peppers, baking powder, eggs, butter, chorizo, milk, chorizo

The mix of peppers, chorizo and different types of cheeses make this cake so interesting. The first time I tried this cake, I couldn’t stop eating it! Chorizo is marinated with smoked paprika and garlic. Paprika’s aroma smells like dried fruits and  compliments the chorizo and peppers very well. And if you don’t like spicy food, don’t worry, because it is not spicy at all.

I want to mention though that I forgot to add the paprika while recording this video! It happens guys. It was a race between finishing the recipe and a crying baby. LOL…The struggle is real. The cake is as good without it. So, paprika is optional.

With a little bit of oil in the pan sauté the garlic and the peppers together until all of them are cooked through. I strongly recommend seasoning the vegetables while cooking. It will prevent your cake from being bland. There is nothing worse than bland food.

What type of cheese to use for this cake?

batter with mozzarella and gruyere

I have used two types of cheese: gruyere and mozzarella. Mozzarella is crucial since it helps the cake keep its moisture. If you don’t have mozzarella, you can use goat cheese instead. Also, you can use any hard cheese in lieu of gruyere.
